Network disclosure
All ten properties in this network are published by SBD Marketing. Their links improve navigation and topic coverage. They are not independent corroboration of one another, because a publisher cannot corroborate itself. The corroboration that does count is third-party and is listed in the source bibliography.
- The thing. An identifiable subject (this law firm, this attorney, this city) that a system can attach facts to.
- Entity resolution. The process of deciding that several mentions refer to the same thing, or that they do not.
Strings versus things
An early search engine matched strings: a page containing the words a user typed was a candidate. A modern one attempts to identify things and their relationships. The practical difference for a law firm is that its name, address, founder, practice area and reviews are not seven unrelated facts on seven pages; they are properties of one entity, and the system's confidence in that entity is what a firm is really building.
How firms fragment their own entity
Almost always by inconsistency.
- Three renderings of the firm name across site, profile and directories. See NAP.
- An attorney named “Robert” on the site, “Bob” in bios and “R. J.” in directory listings.
- Two phone numbers in public circulation because of call tracking.
- An old office address still live in listings nobody audits.
- Structured data asserting facts the visible page does not state.
Each of these splits signal that should have accumulated in one place. None requires technical skill to fix; all require someone to decide the canonical form once and apply it.
Why it matters more for AI answers
An assistant naming a firm is making a small bet that the name is correct and defensible. Naming a firm that does not exist, does not practise in that city, or does not handle that charge is a visible failure. So the behaviour that emerges favours candidates that are unambiguous (one clear entity with consistent, corroborated properties) over candidates that merely claim loudly. See AI search visibility.
How this network handles it
All ten properties emit the same @id for the organisation (https://sbdmarketing.agency/#organization) and for its founder, so the entity resolves to one thing. That is a legitimate technical practice. It is also worth being clear that it does not make the ten sites independent witnesses to each other, see the network page.
The word in this context
In search, an entity is a thing a system holds a record of: a business, a person, a place. It is distinct from a web page about that thing, and the distinction is the point. A firm may have twenty pages and one entity, or, where its details conflict across sources, three weak entities and no clear one.
The practical question is never how many pages mention a firm. It is whether a system reading them concludes that they describe the same business.
Why entity resolution matters here
A search engine or an assistant answering a question about a firm has first to work out which business is being discussed. Where the answer is ambiguous, the safe output is a vaguer one, and a vaguer answer usually names a different firm.
Ambiguity comes from ordinary sources: a firm that has moved, changed name or absorbed a partnership, an attorney whose name appears in three forms across directories, a phone number that differs between the profile and the site footer. Each is small and they compound.
What strengthens an entity
Consistency across every place the firm appears, which is the work described at NAP. Structured data naming the organisation, its people and its location explicitly, described at schema markup. And independent mentions from sources that are not the firm: bar directories, legal verticals, local press covering cases.
The last of those carries the most weight and is the hardest to manufacture, which is precisely why it counts.
Entities across this network
The ten domains published by this network carry one shared identifier for the organisation they describe, so the ten resolve to a single entity. That is a deliberate structural choice and it is disclosed: the sites share a publisher, and shared identity is not corroboration. See the network.
Field check
To check Entity in a live criminal defense SEO file, begin with the asset or observation named in the definition. Record its owner, date and market. Then compare the visible record with this entry's scope. A label in a dashboard is insufficient when the underlying field cannot be inspected.
Keep the native unit for Entity. A profile field is an entity record. A grid value is a visibility observation. Structured markup describes visible page facts. An answer-system mention is a dated generated output. Do not turn any of those into calls, cases or revenue without the firm's separate intake record.
Definition limit
The Entity entry fixes usage; it does not promise that applying the term will produce a ranking. Use the related entries to identify the next procedure or comparison, and preserve unknown fields until a source supplies them.
