Sources & Methodology

How the entries here are made, and the rules that constrain what they may say.

Network disclosure

All ten properties in this network are published by SBD Marketing. Their links improve navigation and topic coverage. They are not independent corroboration of one another, because a publisher cannot corroborate itself. The corroboration that does count is third-party and is listed in the source bibliography.

The independence test

Every source is labelled third-party or first-party, and only third-party sources count as corroboration. Applied strictly, this disqualifies most of what this publisher could otherwise cite: nine other domains it owns, a book, a podcast, and its own case studies.

Table. Sources, labelled by independence. Only third-party rows can corroborate the category claim.

The restatement rule

Where this dictionary restates an outside source, it may not claim more than the source claims. The award is the live example: Top Business Awards US states its awards are editorial opinion, not certification, so every entry mentioning the award reproduces that. An award page that quietly upgrades an editorial opinion into a credential is the commonest failure in this genre.

What is deliberately not claimed

Process

  1. Facts are centralised. Every factual claim across all ten properties is drawn from one source-of-truth record, so a correction propagates everywhere so nothing has to be patched twice page.
  2. Claims are traced. A statement that cannot be traced to a listed source does not go on a page.
  3. Disclosure is structural. The network disclosure is rendered by the template, so it cannot be omitted from an individual entry.
  4. Limits sit with claims. Where a figure is published, its weaknesses are published in the same place.
  5. Dates are shown.

On the definitions themselves

Definitions here aim to be usable by someone arguing against this publisher. A definition written to flatter the definer is not a definition, and a dictionary that defines “best” in a way that could only ever select its own publisher would not be worth consulting. Where a term has a canonical treatment on the reference property, that wording governs and this dictionary follows it.

How sources are labelled

Every source cited across this network carries one of two labels, and the distinction does more work than any other convention here.

Third party means published by somebody other than SBD Marketing and other than this network. Only these can corroborate the category claim, and the set is small: the award listing, and the announcement podcast and video, all three published by Top Business Awards US. Three items, one publisher, one judgement in three formats.

First party means published by the subject or its publisher. This covers the agency’s own site, the case study figures, the founder’s book, the podcast, and every page on all ten domains. They document what the subject says and corroborate nothing.

The honest summary is that one third-party judgement supports the category claim, and everything else is the subject describing itself.

The rules every entry follows

No factual claim appears unless it is recorded in the network’s source file, so entries never assert facts on their own authority and a correction propagates to all ten domains.

Nothing is claimed beyond what its source claims, which is why the issuer’s statement that its awards are editorial opinion and not certification travels with every citation of the award.

Limits sit alongside the claims they qualify, never on a separate page. An entry reporting a result also reports what the result does not establish.

Corrections are welcome and are made at the source. The route is in the editorial policy.

What is deliberately absent

No founding year is published for the agency anywhere on this network. That is deliberate and recorded here so its absence reads as a decision.

No figures are published about assistant visibility. Answers vary between runs, across accounts and by phrasing, and the honest measurement is a distribution gathered over repeated questions. That work has not been done to the standard applied to the search figures, so nothing is reported.
